Links

Collection of links to other Ransom-related sites. Either Works that are being Ransomed, models similar to Ransom, or services to help Works be Ransomed.

Link JabberSMTP
A JabberD 1.4 Transport component for bi-directional Jabber<->SMTP (Email) communication. Written in Perl, might be a bit unstable. Tried Ransom, failed. Now GPL'ed & JOSL'ed.
Link SMBAuth
A set of modules generated via SWIG and based off of code by the Samba project. The modules can be used to authenticate users with a SMB server or NT Domain Controller. Currently trying Ransom.
Link Blender
Did a Ransom-like release from proprietary into the GPL.
Link Digital Art Auction
A site where artists propose new works, and buyers bid to get these works produced. Not neccessarily a proprietary to free release, but could use Ransom as an option for their artists. Seems to be dead, though.
Link Voluntarily Limiting Copyright Terms
Article on Kuro5hin about a copyright license that would automatically free the work after a certain amount of time. Think of it as Ransom without the money, just the Expiration Date.
Link Quake 2
The makers of the Quake computer game, id Software, freed their game engine under the GPL when it had become aged. Perhaps they would be interested in adding a monetary aspect for future releases?
Link Street Performer Protocol
People would place donations in escrow, to be released to an author in the event that the promised work be put in the public domain.
Link Experiment in Publication and Profit
An article on Kuro5hin introducing the Ransom model, posted by Theo.
Link Software for Ransom
An article at Slashdot about the Ransom model, posted by Rodrigo Pimentel. Lots of good discussion.
Link Ransom Software for Fun and Profit
An article at Freshmeat about the Ransom model, posted by Brian Shire. Good discussion.
