Definitions of terms used in the Ransom project.

Work
- The copyrighted piece being released under the Ransom model.

Holder
- The copyright owner of the Work.

Proprietary License
- A typical copyright license which restricts many freedoms of users, but also contains the Clauses.

Free License
- A free copyright license that the work will automatically be re-licensed to when full Ransom is paid or expires.

Expiration
- A certain date when the Work becomes re-licensed under the Free License.

Clauses
- Covers the transition of the work from the proprietary license to the free license.

Liberator
- The individual or organization who makes payments to the total Ransom amount.

Proof
- A sample of the Work used by the Holder to prove they really do have something to Ransom.

Total
- The total amount of money that must be collected by the Holder in order have the Work freed before the Expiration date arrives.
